To be "Pro Per" or "Pro Se" is to represent yourself in a legal matter without retaining an attorney. There are a couple of reasons to do so. You might be able to handle most issues yourself without the need for an attorney. Alternatively, you might not want to spend the money necessary to retain an attorney.Centennial Law Offices provides a complete suite of Pro Per assistance services at a fraction of the cost of being fully represented by counsel. There are two main categories of assistance available to self-represented parties:
Nationwide Legal Research (legal questions)-
If you have general legal questions you need promptly answered, we offer research on all substantive or procedural law. Fees start at just $25.00 for this service. You may ask your question right away and receive a fee estimate within a couple of hours. Many quick questions are answered within the day. More complicated questions may take up to a week to be thoroughly researched. All legal research is performed by individuals with a Juris Doctorate (law degree) obtained in the United States. A thorough legal memo of the law including citations to legal authority (cases, statutes, treatises) is provided. Limited Representation & Specific Services
(Have an attorney help you with part of your case)-
Limited Representation involves retaining an attorney to represent you in only one or more parts of your case. For example, if you have filed or responded to a divorce filing, you may retain counsel only on the issue of child support payments. If you have decided to file a lawsuit, you may retain counsel only for the purpose of writing your Complaint.
With fees starting at just $50.00, Specific Services are aimed at assisting you in representing yourself. As a Pro Per litigant, you may often find yourself lost in a maze of difficult procedural requirements. You may need legal advice or have specific legal questions pertaining to your case. Our Specific Services will assist you with many of these issues. The services offered by Centennial Law Offices differ from that provided by document preparation businesses in that document preparation businesses are not attorneys and may not provide you with legal advice. Limited Representation and Specific Services are only available to California residents.
